This is the room I painted whilst heavily pregnant. I had to keep sitting down to rest because I knew I’d over done it, but Chris was at work and I was panicking that we wouldn’t get it all done. Well, he probably wasn’t at work was he, but off shagging Fat Bird. Anyway, this room is where I sat when it was all newly furnished and daydreamed about what sort of Mum I was going to be and imagining what our child would look like. I sat here the day I left hospital, still dazed from the anaesthetic and numb from what I’d just been through, trying to breastfeed this little man and no clue how to do it. This room has witnessed laughter, tears, both mine and Jo-Jo’s, anxiety, worry, excitement and so much more. If I had one pound for every time I’ve peered through the crack in the door to spy on Jo-Jo to see if he’s either sleeping, or to just watch him, I’d have paid my mortgage off I think. Thanks to Mum, the corner of the room was constantly stacked with nappies and wet wipes and newly purchased clothes where she said ‘I saw this and could just see him in it’. Oh Di, I want to bottle this room and take it with me. I’m feeling quite maudlin this evening and I’ve not even had any wine! I’ll be okay, but it’s weird to think that I’ll never see this room again.
